Our Commitments

We believe in stewarding Pacific stories as custodians of our cultural traditions. The spirit of talanoa and values of aīga, tautua, and alofa are interwoven in everything we do. Our Pacific young people will be the leaders of tomorrow and that is why our team does as much 'heart work' as we do 'hard work' in publication. These are more than books to us, this is a legacy.

Beyond Words. Building Connections.

We believe in the importance of Pacific representation in media and literature. Every story we write, draw and share comes from lived experience. Our aim is to inspire a sense of cultural identity, pride, and belonging in every book.

We do this by sharing stories from our lived experience as Pacific People. This is coupled with our teams cultural knowledge and expertise in translation and interpretation. We frame our stories in a way where young readers are able to be see themselves in stories visually and thematically.

Our bestsellers are in the English and Samoan language so a majority of the themes center around the Fa'aSamoa - the Samoan way of life, cultural identity and traditions.

How do you ensure that your books are translated accurately?

After writing the copy and pairing it with illustrations, we run our translations through at least three Gagana Samoa Language Experts and Cultural Advisors. We do our best to be as thorough as we can during this Quality Control Process which means one book can take up to 6 months to complete. Cultural relevancy and accuracy is an important aspect in our design and creative process.
